Ballerina Craft

Do you have a budding ballerina? In our home we have three who have really grown in grace, poise, and confidence as young ballerinas. Today I wanted to share a fun craft that my daughters all recently made. This was a project that they really enjoyed and was a neat way to preserve some of the blooms from the bouquets they received from their latest performances.

We started off with blank 11X14 canvases that were kindly gifted to us from my kids’ classmate. I set out a few acrylic paints in red, pink, and white, as well as my kids’ favorite watercolor paints from Faber-Castell. I also provided some gold glitter and invited the kids to create a stage.

They painted bright red curtains. If your child is younger, you could pencil in an outline for them to fill in. The girls really enjoyed making their own stage and curtains. Some even added an audience underneath their stage (see blue blobs below).

Also glitter! Lots of it too!

While their stage was drying, we grabbed some white coffee filters. They painted them with clear glue and pressed their blooms onto the coffee filter. We waited for this to dry too.

I made a ballerina silhouette which is free to download above for personal use. This file is best printed out onto white cardstock and given to kids to cut and glue. The ballerina will need to be cut in half and glued slightly apart to create room for her skirt.

Once dried, the coffee filters were folded in half and glued on to create the beautiful ballerina tutus.

My daughters and their little friend really enjoyed creating and displaying this fun keepsake. Hope your young ballerina will enjoy this too!
