New Year’s Printables for Kids
Here are a few printable activities I made to help my kids ring in the new year. There is a coloring crown, coloring page, writing activity, banner, and cupcake toppers. They have all been recently updated for 2024. Hope they can help to add a little fun to your celebration as well! All downloads are available below for personal, single classroom, or library use. I hope your kids enjoy them!
This file is best printed out onto white cardstock and given to your child to color, decorate, then cut and either stapled, taped, or glued to create a festive crown to wear. I like to lay out a chip tray filled with assorted crayons, pens, colored pencils, as well as stickers, glue, and glitter for the kids to choose from. This also makes a very simple to set up but fun group activity as well a fun photo prop for the new year.
This file is best printed out onto cardstock, given to your child to color, hole punched on top, and hung with ribbon, yarn, or twine. We cut up a silver tinsel garland we had leftover from Christmas and tied them to the ends of our letter stars to create a fun tail. This is a simple and quick way to set the mood of a room and get the kids excited for the new year.
We also used leftover wrapping paper rolls, toilet paper rolls, and tinsel to create these easy and fun firecrackers for the new year. My kids really enjoyed painting their own designs and sprinkling gold confetti on them before the paint dried.
I love open ended writing activities like this. Daily writing in some form whether through journaling, or creating their own comics and stories, has really helped my kids to develop better penmanship, spelling, vocabulary, and grammar. It has also helped them to learn how to organize and express their thoughts plus I really enjoy getting a peek into their psych. They also make great keepsakes through the years.
I printed out multiple copies of these sheets for my kids to color and then we hung them up everywhere to get our house ready for the new year. I love decorating for every holiday and including my kids in the process. These pages are a simple and fun way to achieve this.
This file is best printed out onto white cardstock and given to your child to color, cut, and tape onto toothpicks to insert into delicious cupcakes. A two inch circle punch can be used to make quicker more precise circles as well but sometimes the imperfect cuts made by your child adds a wonderful charm. You can print multiple copies to use as water bottle labels, utensil wraps, adhere to party favors, or scatter over tables for more quick and easy festive fun.
