Disney Countdown for Kids
Are you getting ready to go to Disneyland or Disney World or are planning to go in the near future? I made a few printables for my little family as we recently had the opportunity to visit Disney World this fall. If you have never experienced Disney World in the fall, I would highly recommend it. The decorations were nice, the crowds a bit smaller than in the spring, and it was much less hot. I didn’t feel like I was melting all the time! I made a countdown for my kids to help count down the days to our vacation as well as a few to take along on our trip. They are free to download below for personal use. Hope they can be helpful and fun for your family as well!
This file is best printed out onto cardstock and given to your kids to glue on black pom poms, covering each day as you count down towards your trip together. The day before your trip, you should have a completed Mickey silhouette.
We just used a glue stick to attach our pom poms. Alternatively you can have kids use a black bingo or dot marker, or just cross off the dates as you count down. To make it reusable, you can laminate this or slip the printable into a heavy duty sheet protector.
This created a great visual for my kids and was a fun way to help answer, “How many more days Mom and Dad?!”
I also made a word search and some journal pages (see below) for my kids to take along on our trip. My kids really enjoy word searches. I like making them for my kids as a playful way to help them to work on their sight words, spelling words, and even math facts. Hopefully this can be helpful to pull out while you are waiting at the airport, on the plane, or at a restaurant.
As my kids had to miss a few days of school, their teachers gave them the assignment of keeping a journal while on their trip to share with their class so I made these printable journal pages for them to take along.
Two versions are included, one with Minnie ears and one with Mickey’s silhouette. I just made the images by overlapping simple shapes so they aren’t exact images but they were close enough for my kids. There are fourteen pages in each set, one for each day of the week with an extra page for eager writers. Kids can draw about their day, then write. My first grader just used one page each day but my third grader needed that extra page everyday. I am a big fan of promoting journal writing for kids. It helps them to wind down, express their feelings, as well as work on spelling, penmanship, and grammar. They also make for great keepsakes.
