First Day of School

Wow it’s September already and school is starting. I made a few printable activities to help my kids celebrate their first day of school and wanted to share them. There are free coloring pages that can double as photo props for the first day. There is also a printable banner and some fun cupcake toppers. Everything coordinates with the printables I made for their last day of school last year and is free to download below.

Feel free to download, print the grade you need, and save the rest for future years. My kids love coloring and often hum while they complete their coloring sheets. It’s fun, calming, and helps them to relax and focus. These coloring pages also make great photo props and can help capture what your child looks like on their first day of school through the years.

A banner always makes things festive and can really help set the mood of a room with little work. This file is best printed out onto cardstock, cut, hole punched on top, and hung with ribbon, yarn, or twine for a quick and easy decoration to help your child celebrate their first day of school. The banner is in chalkboard font as it sounds very fitting for the occasion.

This file is best printed out onto cardstock, given to your kids to color, or left in black and white. You can use a 2 inch circle punch or have your kids cut them out (great scissor practice for young kids). I made these cupcakes to go with them. I often will use printable cupcake toppers and adhere them to strips of cardstock to decorate water bottles and to create utensil wraps. They also make fun oversized table confetti.
