Saint Patrick’s Day

Are you looking for some easy and low prep activities to help celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day? I have some free coloring pages, a writing activity, and a fun leprechaun craft. They are all free to download below. Hope it can be useful and fun for your kids too!

These simple coloring sheets features a giant rainbow, some clovers, and giant lucky horseshoe. Grab a bowl of Fruit Loops and your child can use this as a guide to make a Fruit Loop rainbow. You can also encourage your child to color the rainbow using the colors in Ireland’s flag. I also make a larger set of personalized ones here.

My kids love color by numbers! As a bonus, I have found that they enjoy working on their math problems when presented in this format. Included are three pages to help kids work on number recognition and subtraction. The first page is suitable for pre-K. The second page was made for my daughter in kindergarten as she has been working on simple subtraction. The last page is geared towards first to second grade. My son, in second grade, found the problems to be challenging written this way, as it required him to solve the problems in his head.

My kids enjoyed working on this without much guidance other than asking for occasional spelling help. I included a small word bank of sh words that they could choose from but were not limited to. This actually challenged them to find words that mom didn’t think of. They also tried adding words that ended in sh as well.

My kids love puppets, especially ones that they create, and can move. They use them to reenact stories as well as to imagine new adventures. I created these articulated puppets from my own doodles of mischievous leprechauns. Two puppets print to a page. There is the common bearded leprechaun but as my daughters requested girl leprechauns, I made sure to include a female version… because girls can make shoes and hide gold too. This file is best printed out onto cardstock, given to your child to color, decorate, and cut. You will need to use a sharpened pencil or small hole punch to make a hole in the center of each spot that is marked with a letter x, then your leprechaun is ready to assemble with small brads.
