Saint Patrick’s Day Printable Activities

If you are looking for some simple and engaging activities for your kids this Saint Patrick’s Day, you have come to the right place. Here are a few printables that are all free to download for personal use below. There is a gold coin alphabet hunt, counting mat, lucky soup recipe for water play, as well as some simple shamrock templates that can be used for more crafting fun. Hope these printables and ideas can help to add some simple and enjoyable fun for your kids this holiday season!

This simple alphabet mat is a fun way for preschoolers to work on letter recognition. Print onto cardstock and laminate or slip into a heavy duty sheet protector. Grab some plastic gold coins (we purchased a set of 30 for 1.25 from the Dollar Tree) and used a dry erase marker to write letters on them. You can also print this mat out onto sticker paper, cut the letters out and stick them onto the bottom of Rolos and hide for kids to find and match. The letters can be hidden in a sensory base like rice dyed for the season or around the yard for kids to find. Kids can then either mark off the letters they find or cover them up with small manipulatives like dried beans or cereal.

The shamrock from the above printable can also be used as a template to cut out onto clear contact paper to create suncatchers to brighten up your windows. Kids can use cut up tissue paper squares to fill in their shamrocks.

This file is best printed out onto regular paper. You can slip it into a heavy duty sheet protector to make it last longer. I paired these pages with some math link cubes for my youngest to work on counting. This is a wonderful hands on activity for toddlers and preschoolers to work on early numeracy.

I made a printable for making a lucky soup that can be taken outside and paired with water play. This printable is best printed out onto white cardstock and slipped into a laminated pouch or heavy duty sheet protector. Kids can use a dry erase marker to change out the numbers of each item in their recipe for luck. I cut up lime slices and some cilantro, added some gold coins and black plastic pots from the Dollar Tree, and formed some shamrocks out of pipe cleaners. This is an activity that my kids all really enjoy. I just fill up their water table, add a little green icing gel, and my kids have spent many afternoons this March making and serving lucky soup. If you don’t have a water table, plastic storage tubs work as a great substitute.

Lastly I made a simple shamrock template that can be used for so many simple craft activities. We have used it as a template to cut out cardboard shamrocks to decorate with dot markers and paint markers. My kids have enjoyed wrapping them with yarn as well. We have also used the template to cut out shamrocks out of scratch art paper to decorate.
