Unicorn Printable Activities

My girls are nuts over unicorns. Even when my 18 month old says, “I want corn”, she means a unicorn. As today happens to be National Unicorn Day, I thought I would run with this day and create some themed learning fun. I made a free coloring page as well as a printable template for a unicorn craft that can also double as a playdough mat for early math.

This file is best printed out and given to your child to color and decorate. You can use ribbons or thin strips of construction paper as unicorn hair. We have also used leftover Easter grass before. This activity is similar to a pony craft we did for my daughter’s third birthday. My daughters also enjoyed cutting out their unicorn and sticking them to wooden dowels to make wands, gluing on cupcake liners for wings.

This printable can also be laminated or slipped into a laminated pouch or heavy duty sheet protector for use with playdough. We created numbers out of playdough and my girls formed the correct number of unicorn hair. You can extend this activity to introduce or practice simple addition and subtraction by manipulating the number of hairs in the unicorn mane and tail.
