Easter

Are your kids getting excited for Easter? To say my kids are excited would be an understatement. They love waking up to see what the Easter bunny left in their baskets for them. After quickly eating their special breakfast (usually bunny shaped pancakes), they race around the house inside and out, hunting for plastic eggs filled with treats. I like to save all these plastic eggs for later use as they make great scoopers for sensory play and can be used in so many ways to help my kids with their math and literacy skills. We’ve written sight words on them for my kindergartener to find. We’ve filled them with coins to help my son in second grade work with money math. The possibilities are endless. We have also had a great few weeks at home incorporating bunny crackers, jelly beans, and bunnies into our everyday learning. I also made a few printable activities to share which are all free to download below.

These questionnaires are so much fun and also make great keepsakes. It is hilarious to see their answers plus it is a great way for kids to work on their writing skills. I included a few items that aren’t usually on such a questionnaire for kids but have been on every job application that I have ever filled out (past experience, strengths, weaknesses, and references). Through the years, I have been amazed at how many adults I have encountered who still have trouble discussing their own strengths and weaknesses in an interview setting and wanted to give my kids the chance to work on this important task of self reflection. It was also fun to see how many times they could hop in a minute and who they wanted to use as their references.

This file features the Easter bunny, eggs, and carrots. My kids love coloring multiple copies of these to give to people and also to hang everywhere to decorate. I have personalized Easter coloring pages available here.

I made this math craft for my son and his class… insert evil mom laugh. They have been working on triple digit subtraction with regrouping. Surprisingly he told me his friends loved it and his teacher made copies for all the other second grade classes. I was thrilled that this simple activity got an entire schools’ second graders excited to solve triple digit subtraction with borrowing.
