Military Puppets Craft
Happy Veterans Day! Today we honor all the dedicated heroes to whom we owe our freedom. I made some printable military puppets to help my kids observe today and to also help them to learn more about the different branches of our military.
This file is best printed out onto regular paper, given to your child to color, cut, and paste onto toilet paper rolls to create their own puppet heroes. You can add googly eyes or challenge your child to draw in different facial expressions. The six puppet templates included (in no particular order) feature the uniforms of the United States Marines, new Space Force, Army, Air Force, Navy, and Coast Guard. My kids really enjoyed making these puppets and have already spent two entire afternoons this week creating and playing with them.
Crafting puppets is a great way for kids to enjoy some screen-free fun while working on improving their focus, scissor skills, and self esteem. My kids have so much pride in showing and displaying what they create. This is also a great activity for older kids. My son who is currently in third grade requested to bring copies of this template to school to share with his classmates today. These puppets have sparked so much interest, questions, and good discussion not only regarding today’s holiday but also about big topics like freedom and everyday heroism.
