Memorial Day
Happy Memorial Day! Today we honor all the brave men and women who have died serving our great country. The kids are all out of school. Warmer weather is finally here. Everyone loves this long weekend filled with grilled foods, family time, and outdoor play. I made a few printable activities to help the kids celebrate and observe this day. There is a free coloring page, patriotic cutouts you can use to create an easy sensory bin and kids’ necklace craft, as well as a skip counting flag for kids to get a jump start on some summer math fun. Hope you all enjoy! Memorial Day makes me think of…

I made a few printable activities to help my kids celebrate their last day of school. There are free coloring pages, a banner, and some fun cupcake toppers. Everything is free to download below. Hope it can be useful and fun for your kids too! Feel free to download, print the grade you need, and save the rest for future years. My kids love coloring. My youngest two like to color in the morning after breakfast to start their day. It helps them to wake up and have better focus. My oldest two like to color after school while they wait for dinner. It helps them to settle down and…

Mother’s Day
Happy Mother’s Day! Today we celebrate all the super moms who have helped to bring us into this world, raise, nurture, guide, teach, and provide for us! I made a free coloring sheet as well as writing activity for the kids to complete for their special mom. Everything is free to download below. When you think about it, moms have a lot in common with superheroes. They work hard and are constantly saving lives (I can’t tell you how many times I have had to pry Legos and coins from my kids’ mouths). They can be available at a moment’s notice, multi-task efficiently, and are always maintaining peace. In your…

Cinco de Mayo
Happy Cinco de Mayo! Today we celebrate Mexico’s victory over the French invasion in the Battle of Puebla that took place 149 years ago. In America, this has now become a day where we celebrate Mexican-American culture. Our family loves any excuse for a celebration and especially one with Mexican food so needless to say, we are on board. I made a tacos sensory bin, some counting tacos cards, and a taco math worksheet. Everything is free to download below. Oh and for dinner… we are having tacos! Hope these ideas and printables can also be useful and fun for your kids too! This was really quick and easy to…

Happy Star Wars Day! Our family loves Star Wars and we look forward to this annual celebration of the pun and all things Star Wars. My son’s class is also celebrating today and he is excited to get to dress up for school. I made a few printable activities to add to the fun. There is a Yoda and Vader suncatcher craft, printable banner, coloring page, and Star Wars math worksheet, all free to download below. This file is best printed out and used as a template to trace onto black cardstock. You will need to cut out the outline of the shape, then the middle, leaving a border of…

Earth Day Printable Activities for Kids
Here are a few simple and fun activities to help kids observe Earth Day. There is a free coloring page, continents suncatcher craft, and felt board activity. Everything is free to download below. Hope these printables and ideas can also be useful for your home or classroom. My kindergartener always requests coloring sheets to pass out to her class so I made the above coloring page for them. The kids colored and we discussed how they propose we can help our planet. This year, in an effort to create less waste as a family, we moved to using cloth towels instead of paper towels. We talked about the importance of…

Unicorn Printable Activities
My girls are nuts over unicorns. Even when my 18 month old says, “I want corn”, she means a unicorn. As today happens to be National Unicorn Day, I thought I would run with this day and create some themed learning fun. I made a free coloring page as well as a printable template for a unicorn craft that can also double as a playdough mat for early math. This file is best printed out and given to your child to color and decorate. You can use ribbons or thin strips of construction paper as unicorn hair. We have also used leftover Easter grass before. This activity is similar to…

Easter
Are your kids getting excited for Easter? To say my kids are excited would be an understatement. They love waking up to see what the Easter bunny left in their baskets for them. After quickly eating their special breakfast (usually bunny shaped pancakes), they race around the house inside and out, hunting for plastic eggs filled with treats. I like to save all these plastic eggs for later use as they make great scoopers for sensory play and can be used in so many ways to help my kids with their math and literacy skills. We’ve written sight words on them for my kindergartener to find. We’ve filled them with…

April Fools’ Day
They say laughter is the best medicine and it is so true. Studies have shown that laughter has many benefits including increasing endorphins (chemicals released by your brain that help you to feel good, be less stressed, and feel less pain). Laughter helps your immune system to perform better fighting off infection and may even help you live longer. Having a good sense of humor has also been linked to greater confidence, optimism, and happiness in kids. Those are all great reasons why we should celebrate and observe this silly day. This occasion is also a great opportunity to discuss with kids the difference between creating jokes, making people laugh…
